

Obituary for Elsie Mae (Grimes) Harshman Elsie Harshman went peacefully to heaven on July 31, 2018 @ Diversicare Providence Retirement Community in Clarksville, IN. She was born in Paulding County, Ohio on February 9, 1923 to the late Frank and Myrta (Adams) Grimes. She was also preceded in death by her husband William Charles Harshman, her brothers Verlin, Robert, Donald, John Grimes and her
sister Ida Lois (Grimes) Heilshorn. After being raised in Oakwood, Ohio, she graduated from the Fort Wayne, Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1944. She served in the Army Nurse Corp during WWII. After marrying her husband, Bill, they attended Purdue University and welcomed their twins Susan and Stuart. They raised their family in Richmond, IN over the next 18 years, then relocated to Ft. Wayne, IN and eventually retired to Jimmerson Lake in Angola, IN. The lake house was the site of wonderful family memories and an annual 4th of July celebration. She was an avid Purdue fan and loved watching and cheering for football and basketball games. She moved to Clarksville, IN approximately 9 years ago. She is survived by her two children Susan (Harshman) Theobald, Clarksville, IN and Stuart Nicholas Harshman (Judy) Garrett, IN. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, Matt Theobald (Jennifer), New Albany, IN; Adam Theobald (Lisa), Columbus, IN; Amy (Theobald) Hinton (Chad), Clarksville, IN; Chad Harshman (Rachael), Roanoke, IN, Heather Harshman-Turk (Chad), Auburn, IN., and Steve Bade (Deb ) Garrett, IN. In addition, she is survived by 13 great-grandchilden Joey, Eli, Olivia, Owen, Gavin, Quentin Theobald and Regan, Jillian, Lauren, Clare Hinton, Drew and Kate Harshman, Matt Guhl She is also survived by her brother Archie Grimes (Carol) of Jewell OH, her sister Laura Grimes Bosh, Defiance, OH and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks goes to the 600 & 800 nursing staff at Diversicare Providence for their continued loving and compassionate care over the past three years. Service is 10:30 am, Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road with calling one hour prior. Burial in Marion National Cemetery, Tuesday August 7, 2018 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request contributions in her memory to the American Breast cancer center in Ft.
