

Emmett Edward Krouse, 94, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at St. Anne’s Home. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he was the son of Adam and Cora (Harkenrider) Krouse and brother to twin sisters, Dolores and Katherine and younger brother Dick.
He was a lifelong Fort Wayne Businessman and the founding partner of the accounting firm Krouse Kern.
He was a graduate of St. Patrick’s School, Central Catholic High School and International Business School. He served our country in World War II in the Army Air Corps. He returned home to his wife and young daughter and began his lifelong career as an accountant. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the International Accountants Society. He served on the Board of St. Anne’s Home and the University of Saint Francis. He graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of St. Francis in 1985; the first board member of the university to be a graduate of St. Francis.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and the Fort Wayne, Country Club. His greatest joy in life was being with his beloved wife Marie, their children and grandchildren and enjoying their farm, Windrow, in Roanoke, Indiana and later their home on Covington Road. Together they hosted many family gatherings of celebration for their children, nieces and nephews. They enjoyed many early trips collecting antiques, and later travelling with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marie (Mitchell), sisters Dolores Kearns and Katherine Miller, and brother Richard Krouse. He is survived by his daughter Judy (John) Mahoney, sons Jack (Cathy Dahm), Jim (Karlene Kinzler), and Dan (Susan Kile) of Kansas City, 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 18 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 518 E DeWald St., Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation is also from 3-7 pm Tuesday, April 17 at Klaehn Fahl and Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road with a rosary recited at 3:30 pm. Burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
