Eugene Edward Allen, 95, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Parkview Hospital Randallia in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born November 16, 1926 in Fort Wayne, the son of the late Frank and Grace Allen.
Eugene served over three years in the Army during WW2 in Europe where he was a sharpshooter, rifle expert and Sergeant. He received the Fame Theater Ribbon with 2 bronze stars, American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, and the Victory Medal. He was a member of American Legion Post 82. He was also a member of Grace Presbyterian church, and formerly a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. Eugene retired from Dana Corporation in 1987 after 40 years of service. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed, traveling, gardening, and playing cards with family and friends.
He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Norma L. Meyer of Coldwater MI, and Carol Watters of Columbia City, IN; several nieces and nephews; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 73 years, Vivian Watters Allen, who passed away December 2, 2021; brother, Richard Allen; and sisters, Evelyn Lebrato and Dorothy Privett.
A funeral service to honor Eugene's life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Grace Presbyterian Church, 1811 Fairhill Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
