Evelyn D. Bender

EVELYN D. BENDER, 86, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, at Kingston Care Center, Fort Wayne. Born in New Haven, Evelyn grew up on a farm and married Donald Bender in 1952. She loved her family and cherished being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Evelyn is survived by son, Martin A. (Peggy) Bender of Fort Wayne; daughter, Donna (Rocky) Mease of Derby, Kan.; daughter, Sharon (Steve) Geiger of Wolf Lake, Ind.; stepdaughter, Terry Lynn (Jim) Meggett of Bay Saint Louis, Miss.; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Bender; and parents, Martin and Edna Fiedler. Service is 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church of Lake Township.
