

Evelyn M. Chernesky, 89, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 at her home in Fort Wayne Indiana. She was born in Scranton, PA, on June 23, 1932, the daughter of the late Leo Patrick and Evelyn Klemish Langan She attended St. Ann's High School in Scranton before graduating and working at Prudential insurance. She married Stanley Chernesky and moved to Manville, NJ, where she volunteered as a Den Mather and Den Leader Coach for the Cub Scouts. After her husband died, she moved to Grand Aisle, VT and worked as a Credit Manager with Logbra before she retired in 1995. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience perseverance, volunteerism and service. Evelyn was deeply involved in Gods Little Brown Church in Alburg, VT and First Assembly of God in Fort Wayne, IN, where she greeted guests, assisted congregates with day-to-day needs, and performed various administrative duties. She loved to garden, read, swim, kayak, cross-country ski, and travel. Reflecting on her nearly nine decades of experience, Evelyn maintained that she always received faithful care from the Lord. Her singular desire was that her life would prove pleasing to God. Those who knew her well know she succeeded he is survived by her sons, Mike (Catherine) Chernesky, Mark Chernesky, and John (Tanya) Chernesky; grandson, Tyler Chernesky, sister-in-law Rosemarie Chernesky, and many nieces and nephew She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley, daughter Carol Ann, sisters Rita McGrath and Theresa Langan, and brothers, Leo and Vincent Langan She will be cremated and celebrated at a small, private gathering on Lake Champlain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to First Assembly of God.
