She graduated from South Side High in 1949, Lutheran School of Nursing in 1952 and Purdue University in 1980. She was a member of Crescent Avenue United Methodist Church and was a Sunday School Teacher for 16 years and teacher of preschool for 10 years. She worked for Dr. Perren, MD for 10 years as well.
Evelyn was an active serverant, loved crafting in the UMW at CAC, and had been active in DTT, Sorority, was an avid reader and loved serving God in many ways.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Dick Montooth, a son, Michael Montooth; daughters, Deborah (Douglas) Reed, Karen Montooth, and Kimberly Montooth-Welker (Scott, deceased); 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
She spent her life serving others. She loved her Heavenly Father, the church and her special friends at Crescent Avenue Church.
Funeral Service for Evelyn will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Crescent Avenue United Methodist Church, 1232 Crescent Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805, with Pastor Mark Gough, officiation. Visitation will be an hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Lindenwood Cemetery.
