I am deeply saddened at the loss of Fr. Tom. I remember him from our days at Queen of Angels when my sons attended school there. To me, he was like a big teddy bear that I wanted to hug every time I saw him. Going to confession with him was so incredibly comforting. He always found a way to make me smile. I will miss you, Fr. Tom, more than words can say. To his family and friends, know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all. We were all so blessed that he was a part of our lives. R.I.P. You definitely deserve it.

I first met Fr. Tom Lamping when I lived in Chicago when we connected as a result of family tree research. Fr. Tom and my dad were second cousins. Everytime my mom and dad subsequently came to Chicago, we would have Fr. Tom over and all enjoyed our visits. Fr. Tom came to Fort Wayne when both my mom and dad passed and con-celebrated both their funeral Masses. I will never forget that kindness. May Fr. Tom rest in peace and have the reward of his goodness. Blessings and peace to his family.

I first met Father Tom in the mid 90s in Chicago through our late great, mutual friend, Jerry Alber. 
What a wonderful man Tom was, with a great sense of humor and fascinating travel tales from his adventures in Mexico.

Fr Tom was such a dear friend both to me and my deceased husband, Deacon Dick Hankett.   Dick loved to be on the altar as deacon with Fr Tom at Queen of Angels Church.  They were very close friends & shared much together, including a similar sense of humor.  When Dick's cancer was diagnosed, he was with us at the oncologist's office.  When Dick was in the hospice during his last days, Fr Tom was there almost continually & when he passed, Fr Tom stayed with me to wait for the on call undertaker to pick up his body.  He then drove me home (& even brought the food that was left in the hospice refrigerator for us & placed it in my refrigerator.)  He even drove me to the emergency vet when my dog was dying.  We kept in touch over the years; I even spoke to Fr Tom the day before he passed.  "May the angels guide you & bring you into paradise, Fr Tom",  Know that you are in my heart & in my prayers. Tom was a great guy to be around and an inspiration to my priesthood. He accompanied me on a trip to see my grandmother and we had a great time driving up to northern California.
We also went with 4 other friends to Italy, Austria and Germany. What a great time! Although, his snoring could be heard from one end of the hotel to other, haha!
I helped him a few times by saying Mass at St. Philomena. He taught me so much! I wish I had spent more time with him.
