

Gene served his country and was a veteran of World War II. He retired from International Harvester in Fort Wayne in 1981 after30 years of service. He also retired from over twenty years of service at Sycamore Hills Golf Course in 2012 at the age of 90. Gene’s favorite past times were spending time with family, traveling, being outdoors, fishing, and golfing. He was a member of Sycamore Hills Golf Course and was skilled and well known for his golf club repair.
Gene was blessed with a wonderful family and many wonderful friends
Surviving is his wife of 43 years, Joyce. Sons: Steve Quickery of Fort Wayne/Urbana, OH; Tom Quickery of Palm Springs, Fl; Jules Bryan Mettert of Fort Wayne. Daughters: Sharon Kirkpatrick of Churubusco; Carol Steinbach of Fort Wayne. He was also blessed with 16 Grandchildren: Candy, Christina, Chuck, Steven, Shannon, Jackie, Ashley, Elliott, Casie, Shawn, Tammy, Michelle, Corina, Amber, Julie, and Jessica along with 22 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Clara, Richard, Bob, and Wilbur.
