Married his wife, Cheryl Jeanne (Wilson) Avery on October 12th, 1979.
He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed spending his time with his dogs, gardening, making art and riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by his children, Jerry and Michelle Avery, Crystal Avery, Sharon Avery and Victor Peralta, all from Fort Wayne, IN; his grandchildren Nolan Avery, Luc Ngo, Lila Ngo, Oliver Peralta, Abel Avery and Agustin Peralta, and one great grandchild, Ivy Avery, all from Fort Wayne, IN. Also survived by his beloved dogs Benji and Sparky, and grand dogs Buddy, Biscuit and Boba.
Predeceased by his mother, Rosamond Luella Polk- Waters, Father, Gerald Lewis Avery Sr.; Wife, Cheryl Jeanne Avery; brother, Arnold “Larry” Nash, and friend and neighbor Milton Doenges.
