

GERTRUDE ANNA BAUMGARTNER, 91, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at Sacred Heart Home, Avilla surrounded by her loving family. Born June 8, 1919, in Elkhart, she is the daughter of the late Harry and Gertrude Teders Dellenbaugh. She was a homemaker; and worked for many years as a demonstrator and head of the Bakery Department at the former Maloley's Supermarket. Her first devotions were to her church and family. Her precedence of faith and example of love guided four generations. She was a treasured member of the community, a faithful friend and a caring neighbor. "Her life was truly a labor of love." She enjoyed sewing, cooking, entertaining, decoration and Bingo. She was a volunteer at the United Methodist Food Bank. She was a member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. Surviving are her three sons, David (Bonnie) Baumgartner of New Haven, Paul Joseph Baumgartner of Clearwater, Fla. and Daniel (Brenda) Baumgartner of Fort Wayne; three daughters, Jacquelyn Lude, Donna Koehl and Rebecca (Robert) Howe, all of Fort Wayne; one son-in-law, Richard Cotterman of Fort Wayne; 37 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and several other extended family members. The family would like to thank the staff of Provena Sacred Heart Home for the care she received. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Baumgartner, in 1999; one daughter, Charlene Cotterman; one son, Russell Baumgartner; two great-grandsons, Derek Dennon and Jordan Allen; and two great-granddaughters, Danielle Dennon and Emma Black. Prayer service is 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells Street, with visitation from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 1515 Barthold Street, Fort Wayne. Visitation also from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Divine Mercy Chaplet service at 3:30 p.m. and a Rosary service and Eulogy at 8 p.m. Burial in the Catholic Cemetery. Preferred memorials to Provena Sacred Heart Home, Precious Blood Catholic Church or for masses.
