Herbert Franklin Davis, 91 passed away February 4th, 2025, in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born February 14, 1933, in Tomkinsville Kentucky the son of Lacey E. and Audie (nee Burgess) Davis. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. Herbert owned Barker and Herbert Laboratory of New Haven, IN. and is a retired Captain with the Fort Wayne Police Department where he served as the Crime Lab Director for 22 years, retiring in 1980.
Herbert is survived by his children, Stephen M. Davis of Fort Wayne, IN; Kimberly (Mark) Shultz of Fort Wayne, IN; Rev. Scott (Angie) Davis of Leo, IN; siblings, Sally MacAfee, Diane Harding, Sue Lichtsinn, grandchildren, Zachary (Emily) Shultz, Kara Shultz, Evan (Katie) Davis, Gabe (Paige) Davis and great grandchildren, Theodore Shultz and George Davis, and brother in laws Ron (Barbara) Burkart and Alex Simon.
He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley A. Davis, September 13th, 2017, daughter Beth Ann Davis, brother, Bob Davis, and sister Rosie Simon.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, February 9, 2025, at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home 1140 Lake Ave. Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation one hour prior. Committal and Burial at Odd Fellows Cemetery, New Haven, IN. Memorials may be made to Stillwater Hospice.
