

Herbert Eugene Vanderford, 80, of New Haven, passed onto his eternal resting place on December 26, 2020 preceded by his wife, Carolyn Ann; brothers, Richard and James Vanderford; and grandson, Joesef Till.
He was born on May 23, 1940 in Columbia City, and was the son of late Roy and Bernice (Kneller) Vanderford. He was the oldest of nine siblings. On January 18th, 1985 he married Carolyn Ann Malsbury in Las Vegas, Neveda. He graduated from Coesse High School in 1958. He served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft electrical technician and was honorably discharged June 21, 1966. He had many jobs over the years including plant engineer at Sheller Globe, and maintenance director at numerous places until he retired. He volunteered his time and was a member for many years of the Mizpah Shriners, Eastern Stars of Leo #278, Masonic Lodge of Leo #224 F&AM
He is survived by two brothers, Thomas and Randall; four sisters, Doris Swisher, Martha Vasquez, Janice Dow, and Carol Sue Dickson; four children, Jeffery (Denise), Kerry, Blake (Cynthia), and Kelly Barnhart (Terry); eleven grandchildren, Amanda, Carrie, Amanda, Victoria, Kerry, Miranda, Nicholas, Victoria, Olivia, Calvin, and Colbey; many great grandchildren; and many other family members to list.
Services will be held Monday, January 4, 2021 at 1:30 PM with calling one hour prior at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home at 4017 Maplecrest Rd, Fort Wayne. Calling will also be held Sunday, January 3 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there is a limit of 25 people in the funeral home at one time, so rotation of people will be mandatory.
