

Herman Wayne Hassig, 95, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Kendallville Manor. He was born on September 29, 1927 in Leo, IN to the late John and Lydia Hassig. Herman graduated from Milton Loral High School in 1946. He proudly served his country and was a U.S. Army Veteran, with the 57th Medical Battalion from 1949-1952 during the Korean War.
Herman retired from Dana Corporation after 42.5 years of service. He was a member of the Huntertown United Methodist Church (Lifehouse Church) for over 50 years. He enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Florida, camping, fishing and attending Lions Club events. His true passion was spending time with his family and especially the grandchildren.
Herman is survived by his daughter, Treva (Bruce) Vasbinder; sons, Roger and David Hassig; grandchildren, Brock, Tyler, and Bree; a brother, Don (Lois) Hassig; and brother-in-law, Lynn (Viki) Bonewitz.
He was also proceeded in death by his wife of 50 years, Karlita (Bonewitz) Hassig , 6 brothers, 2 sisters, and brother-in-law, Denny Bonewitz, sister-in-law, Joenita Keller.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Lifehouse Church 16021 Lima Road Huntertown, IN 46748 with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial in Perry Township Cemetery, Huntertown, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Arrangements by D.O.
