Honore O. Verschaffel, 84, of Fort Wayne passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. He was born on October 11, 1937 in Ghent, Belgium, son of the late Marcel Verschaffel and Juliana Everheart. He immigrated to the United States in 1958 at the age of 21. He worked as a private and commercial airline pilot before retiring. With great sorrow we say farewell for now. Until we meet again in the clouds. Survived by his wife, Marlene Sturgeon-Verschaffel; children, Doreen Verschaffel, Cynthia “CJ” Davis, Gayle (Michael) Bireley, Mitchel Sarrazine, Lori (Larry) Herb; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
