
Ida Mae Franklin, age 79, passed away peacefully at home on July 3, 2025. Born on April 16, 1946, in Garrett, Indiana, to Anna and Floyd Imbody, she spent most of her life in Fort Wayne, where she raised her family and touched many lives through her career in nursing.
A proud graduate of Ivy Tech Community College, Ida earned her degree in Nursing and dedicated 25 years to caring for others with compassion and commitment. Her gentle spirit and nurturing heart made her a beloved nurse and friend to many.
Ida was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rolland Franklin. She is survived by her three sons: Randy, Rob, and Ron Franklin (Kirsten); her eight grandchildren: Drew (Stacey) Franklin, Chelsea (Joe) Hinkle, Jordan (Ian) Franklin, Ashlee Hubbard, Hannah Franklin, Maddie Franklin, Cooper Franklin, and Winter Franklin; and ten cherished great-grandchildren: Mya, Lillian, Adeline, Emma, Reagan, Bronson, Lilliana, Isla, Addalynn, and Remington.
Family meant everything to Ida. She was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones, especially during holidays, where playing dominoes became a treasured tradition. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, and her creative spirit showed in everything she did.
A memorial service will be held in the near future for friends and family to come together, share stories, laughter, and celebrate the life of a truly remarkable woman.
Ida’s kindness, humor, and unwavering love for her family will never be forgotten. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and grace that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
