Jacqueline (Bender) Heckler

Jacqueline (Bender) Heckler, 89, of Fort Wayne, Indiana was called to her Heavenly Home on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Her husband, Don, predeceased her on October 4, 2009 after 54 years of marriage. She is survived by her son, Douglas (Susan) Heckler of Southport, North Carolina; daughter, Kathleen Clark of Zionsville, Indiana; and four grandsons and four great-grandsons. Jackie was born and raised in Fort Wayne, baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, and confirmed and married at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church. She enjoyed singing in church choirs for over sixty years in Indiana and Ohio. She also enjoyed working as a secretary for various organizations, church offices, and law practices. In retirement, she volunteered for over thirty years with Lutheran Social Services of Indiana. A funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4245 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, with calling beginning at 1:00 pm. Memorials may be given to Concordia Lutheran Church, Lutheran Social Services of Indiana, Concordia Lutheran High School, or Valparaiso University.
