James Michael Urban

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James M. Urban, surrounded by his loving family, on May 2, 2025.

James was born on June 30, 1951, in Flushing, New York. While growing up on Long Island he met his wife, Patricia Purcell. His kindness and humor won her love. In December 1971, Jim enlisted with the U.S. Air Force where he proudly served his country for 22 years. He was also proud of his family and taught his daughters that home was not a physical address but wherever family could be found.

After retiring from the Air Force in 1993, Jim moved his family to Fort Wayne, Indiana. He spent his retirement as a truck driver. And when not on the road, he could be found tinkering in the garage and telling stories to his grandchildren, who were often subjected to tickle spider attacks.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Urban; their children, April Urban, Melissa Urban, Dawn (Sam) Snyder, and Christal (Jake) Woods; brothers, Bruce Urban and Steven (Alana) Urban; sisters, Sandra Triolo, Julie (Chris) Martin, and Cynthia (Wendell) Hammack; grandchildren, Sam Snyder, Jacob Snyder, Trevor Woods, Majia Woods, and Mia Urban; and niece and nephews, Christian Martin, Sara Martin and Dominic Hammack.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Francis Urban, and Janet and Dominic Triolo; daughter, Jeanine Urban; and brother, John Urban.
