Jason Edward Harter, aged 54, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025. Born on October 2, 1969, in Fort Wayne to parents Robert and Barbara Harter, Jason was a very beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend to many. Jason was a 1988 graduate of Northside High School and actively attended Headwaters Church. He married his wife Sarah on April 8, 2022.
Jason was well known for his quick wit and sense of humor to say the least. He had a joke for just about everything. Friends and family were always sure to have a laugh when they were around him. Jason and his wife, Sarah, always loved to attend the Fort Wayne Komets games. Every game, he would have his popcorn in one hand and pop in the other. You always knew where he sat by the trail of popcorn he’d leave behind. At home, he would enjoy his beloved dog, Angel. The two were absolutely inseparable. Their bond was something truly special. Jason loved watching the Dallas Cowboys as well his favorite western and sci-fi movies. Star Wars and Star Trek were equally loved, and would always be playing at night on the TV. When he was able to drive, Jason and his son Kyle loved blaring country music out the windows. Whenever he was able, Jason loved to take his family out to country music concerts, especially Hubie Ashcraft. He would always be cheering for Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Chase Elliot when he’d watch the NASCAR races.
Jason is survived by his wife, Sarah (Strack) Harter of Fort Wayne, Indiana; children, Kyle Dillon, Heather Dillon, Shauna (David) Justice, Nakita (Ashley) Berry, and Ashley (Bryan) Ridgway; 3 grandchildren; brothers, David Harter of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Chadwick (April) Harter of Watertown, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Barbara Harter.
A celebration of life for Jason will be held at a later date. Family will announce dates. Memorial contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Headwaters Church, or to family.
