It has been almost 3 years now since the incident, and I still miss his wonderful heart. The way he joked around, the way he would do anything to tease me, he was a hilarious man. The hard thing is, when it happens, it feels like the world is falling in on you. but when it has been a while, you feel like they have partially drifted away I would even say. I hope I see you again, and I know I will.

Jeff and I, Pam and Sue were all childhood friends at Clear Lake, Indiana.  My grandmother's cottage was three doors north.  I was in an out of their house many times a day during the summers in the 1960s.  Jeff was a nice guy is about all I can remember specifically, and that we had a lot of fun.  Martin Meyers

I’ll always remember walking out of the locker room to the bench before our games  and Jeff would be standing there ready to shake my hand and say hello. Jeff was one of the coolest guys around. I would always talk to him during games while I was standing on the sideline and always give him more information about the game. He invited me into their home and made me dinner when I was an intern for the Mad Ants when I first started coaching. He cared about people and he made me feel like family. He kicked my butt in golf and he let me hear about it every basketball game after that. I loved our conversations and hanging out with Jeff. Jeff will he missed greatly. He was a great friend. Love ya Jeff! 

I remember when both Uncle Jeff & Aunt Janie came to visit us in California. We  were living in an apartment at the time and I was probably 3 or 4 years old. Uncle Jeff was showing us (the kids) what he had in his hands. He cupped his hands as we got closer and he gently looked at his hands as if to talk to "it." As we peeked inside, he opened his hands quickly and gave a little "boo." We squealed and laughed and tried to do the same thing to him. He humored us by acting scared and continued in the fun. I love that memory because that's how I'll remember Uncle Jeff...sweet, gentle and humorous. Love you Uncle Jeff! 

This was a real shock to us and we send our sympathy, love, hugs and prayers for your family.  Jeff was a big help at a time when I needed guidance with an accounting situation in ministry.  He was always responsive and ready to step up.  He was a friend, a mentor and caring man.  Jesus gained an angel but this world lost one of our "good guys".  We are so so sorry. Your family was /is such a big part of our lives over the years. Tom gave Rick a job long ago and those days are remembered and discussed to this day. Jeff taking over for Tom just kept it “all in the family “ and we always felt like we were a part of the clan. We are so sorry for your loss and grateful for the times we all shared with the Degitz family. 

Jeff was a remarkable man. Generous, thoughtful, caring and loving. Janie has been a special dear friend since college and we were thrilled when she married Jeff.  They traveled all the way to Florida to spend time with Pam -- my late wife; Janie's college roommate -- during Pam's final days, 20 years ago.  When I married Janie's widowed sister 8 years later, I gained a true brother in Jeff. I treasure every moment I was able to spend with him. What a loss his passing is for all who loved him.

Jeff was such a kind, warm & generous person. I would sum him up in one word....genuine! He will be GREATLY missed.

Every conversation I ever had with Jeff was like being reunited with a lifelong friend.  A man of class and integrity who cared for his family, friends, and community through both action and word.  I will miss our reunions... until we meet again, old friend.  Rest easy and know that you are missed and remembered, but certainly not forgotten.  Your legacy will live on through the family you so adored.
