Jeffrey Walter Held

Jeff was a sweet, kind, generous, courageous man despite the struggles he faced. He was a simple man who was happy with a Diet Coke, a cigarette, and an occasional lottery ticket.

In his younger years, he was a self-taught artist. Jeff loved music—especially rock and roll—and knew the titles and artists of most songs on the radio. He loved being social and made many friends, but also liked being alone.

Jeff was a generous person who enjoyed buying things for others. He also found joy in being outdoors and feeding the squirrels, calling each of them "Rocky." Jeff enjoyed collectables, like coins and comics, and he found joy at antique malls.

Jeff will be missed by his loving sisters, June Switzer and Carolyn Holsworth, both of Fort Wayne; brother, Rick Held of Huntington Beach, California; his nephews, which include Eric, Sean, and Matt; as well as his nieces, Nicole and Dominique. Also surviving are eleven grand-nieces and -nephews. In addition to his parents, Ruth and Walter Held, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Steve Holsworth.

A funeral service to honor Jeff's life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. He will be laid to rest in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
