She obtained her Master's Degree from St. Francis College. Joan worked as an art teacher at Fort Wayne Community Schools for 37 years until her retirement.
In her spare time she enjoyed scrapbooking, crafting, spending time with grandchildren, and playing cards.
She is survived by her children, Lawrence Figgs and Kelly Figgs; grandchildren, Alexis Figgs, Lawrence Figgs, and Noah Figgs; great-grandchild, Addalynn Thomas. Also surviving are many wonderful friends to cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Caroline Carteaux.
A memorial service will be held at 7pm on Friday, July 24, 2020 at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm.
