John Ellenwood, 89 of Fort Wayne, In passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019. He was born May 18, 1929 in Fort Wayne, IN to the late Horace B. and Lydia (Stein) Ellenwood. John was a graduate of South Side High School and proudly served in the U S Navy during the Korean War. He retired in 1992 from Tokheim Corp after over 30 years. John married Marcella J. Lee, in 1956 and she preceded him in death in 2015. John was a caring and kind man who loved his wife, dogs, nature, music and photography. Due to the generosity of John and Marcella the Ellenwood Nature Preserve has been made possible and is part of the ACRES Land Trust. John leaves behind his brother-in-law, Joe (Janet) Corah, sister-in-law, Judy Corah, nieces and nephews, caring neighbors, Deb Hoehn and Kevin Leech, Keith and Louise Pomeroy and many friends. Besides his wife he is also preceded in death by his sister, June Kapos. Services will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 11 AM with Pastor Russ Abel officiating at D O McComb & Sons Pine Valley Funeral Home 1320 E. Dupont Road Fort Wayne, IN with visitation there one hour prior to the service. Additional visitation will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2019 4-6 PM at the funeral home.
