John Willard Hampshire, age 92, of Auburn, Indiana passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025. He was born October 2, 1932, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Waldo E. and Mary D. (née Young) Hampshire. John owned and operated the US 30 Clark gas station, prior to his employment at Tokheim, from which he would retire in 1994 after twenty-eight years of service.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, was active with the U.A.W. Local 1539 and Tokheim Quarter Century Club, but cherished time spent with family the most.
John is survived by his children, Louis "Ray" (Lana) Lee, Debra J. (Gary) Clevenger, Jerry (Janeen) Lee; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Helen Hampshire.
He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Mary E. Hampshire; son, Johnny W. Hampshire; grandson, Brian Christopher Lee; siblings, Donald P. Hampshire, Paul D. (Dot) Hampshire, Marvin L. (Fran) Hampshire, Margaret D. (Jim) Galloway, Marilyn L. (Roy) Holcom, Waldo (Bonnie) Hampshire, Kenneth Hampshire; and former wife, Patricia Wood.
Funeral Service is 10:30 AM, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Covington Knolls, 8325 Covington Rd, Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Friends and family will also be received 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Monday, July 21, 2025 at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana or Soarin’ Hawk Raptor Rehabilitation Center.
