Joseph Lee Brooks

Joseph Lee Brooks, 77, of Fort Wayne, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the VA Regional Medical Center. He was born February 6, 1938 in Louisville, KY to the late Joseph and Leona (Schenkenfelder) Brooks. He worked as a supervisor for Valspar Paint Company, retiring after 40 years. He was a member of Harvest Fellowship and Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He served his country proudly in the U. S. Air force and is a member of the American Legion. He loved running, biking, target shooting, dancing, and spending time with his friends. He is survived by his children, Joe (Lisa) Brooks of Angola, Jill (Rick) Sonner of Huntertown, and Jeffrey (Kimberly) Brooks of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Adrianne, Angela, Jennifer, Bradley, Christopher, Sgt. Tyler, Mackenzie; and seven great grandchildren. Also preceding him in death was his sister, Margie Hull in 1975 and his loving companion, Tess Machlan. A memorial service, with military honors, will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 7 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804 with visitation 2 hours prior. Preferred memorials may be made to the Community Harvest Food Bank.
