Joyce S. Van Ry, 93, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. She was born on June 22, 1925, in Amsterdam, NY, to the late Rev. L.A. and Mary Sibley. Joyce was a 1944 Graduate of Hope College and retired from DeKalb Central Schools after 21 years of teaching. She was a Jubilee Member of First Presbyterian Church and taught in the nursery school. Joyce enjoyed travelling, gardening, reading, her family and friends with her greatest passion being the theater. She was a member of the Civic Theater Guild and was involved in the production of 100 shows. She received two Anthony Awards for outstanding technical achievement as well as the George H. Koegel Lifetime Achievement Award.
Joyce is survived by her daughters, Jody (David) Young and Bobbi (George) Wagner; grandchildren, Emily (Nicholas) Darrah, Ryan (Jessica) Young; step-granddaughter, Angela (Scott) Fenstermaker; 3 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; and her beloved cat, Olivia.
Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home (6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46819). A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018, at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. The family invites you to please come prepared with memories to share of Joyce.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre (303 E. Main Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46802).
