

June (Grunnet) Armstrong, 92, passed away on Sunday February 2, 2025 surrounded by her family at Towne House Health Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. June was born in Wisconsin on June 26,1932 to late Theodore and Mildred Grunnet.
June honed her feisty and independent nature growing up on her family farm. She graduated in 1950 from Brooklyn High School in Wisconsin. She worked in Madison, Wisconsin for a short time before marrying Fredrick on September 19, 1953. They moved to Fort Wayne in 1960, where they raised their three daughters.
June thrived in her role as a wife, mother, homemaker and neighbor. She was a lifelong learner, teaching herself how to sew, macrame, crochet, and various other crafts. June took pride and delight in caring for her extensive flower gardens and landscaping at her home. She enjoyed many activities throughout her life including fishing, camping, traveling, playing cards, and dancing with her husband on Friday nights at the American Legion. June was a consummate bargain hunter and enjoyed looking for treasures at local thrift stores. As a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, she was active in the Sunshine Circle women's group. After her children were raised, June went on to care for the children of others working at KinderCare Child Daycare Center. June was the beloved grandmother to eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in various sporting events. June loved the outdoors and in retirement spent countless hours on her back porch reading, listening to music, and bird watching.
She is survived by her daughters, Laurie (Douglas) Brown and Tammy (Theodore) Toscos; grandchildren, Keely Mulcahy, Andy (Janelle) Brown, Colin Brown, Elaine (Robert) Harrison, Zoe Toscos, Eva Toscos and Mia Toscos; great-grandchildren,Tristan, Anika, Charlotte and Bo; and son-in-law, Gary Mulcahy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick; daughter, Debra Mulcahy; grandson, Courtney Mulcahy; and her siblings, Jerome Grunnet, Charlene Anderson, Ethel Smith, Gladys Frautschy, and Glen Grunnet.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on February 14, 2025 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road Fort Wayne, Indiana 46809, with visitation one hour prior. Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Mount Calvary Lutheran Church.
