

Kathleen “Kit” Garber, 89, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Lutheran Hospital. Born on December 24, 1926 in Huntington County, Ind., she was a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Scher) Landrigan. Kit retired in 1993 as an RN after 50 years of service, having spent most of her years at St. Joseph Hospital. She was a Cadet Nurse after the war ended and was also a founding member of St. Therese Catholic Church. She is survived by her children, Jim (Sue) Garber of Carmel, Peggy Garber of Fort Wayne, Jeanine (Mike) Moyer of Roanoke, Sharon (Don) Haggenjos of Camby, Carol Sue Garber of Stevensville, MD., David (Beth) Garber of York, SC., and Steven Garber of Fort Wayne; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Pat (Susan) Landrigan of Fort Wayne and Bill Landrigan of Warsaw; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Garber; son, Joseph Edward Garber; four sisters, Mary Farmer, Ellen Kitt, Dorothy Simon, and Corinne Scheiber; and two brothers, James and Harold Landrigan.
A Mass of Christian Burial is on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00am at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior; Father Lawrence Teteh officiating. Calling will also be on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Klaehn, Fahl, & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, Fort Wayne, with a Rosary Service beginning at 7:00pm. Preferred memorials may be made to St. Therese Catholic Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
