

Kathryn B. Ruzzo, 103, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020. She was born to the late Carl Frederick and Amelia (Stephan) Halbedel on November 8, 1917 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. She was a devoted wife, mother and Grandma Tootsiebelle to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kathryn graduated from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. She married the late Edward J. Ruzzo on January 26, 1941 and they lived and raised their family in Marion, Ohio. She taught home economics in Marion Public schools for 20 plus years. Passionate Buckeye fans, Kathryn and Eddie attended nearly every Ohio State football game, home and away, for over 50 years. She loved to tell stories of her life to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren especially about when she played basketball on the girls’ high school team. Throughout her life, Kathryn remained an avid quilter who made countless keepsakes for all her family and friends.
Kathryn is survived by her son, W. Larry Ruzzo (Barbara), daughter, Margaret McArdle (Michael), daughter, Amelia Ruzzo (Michael Cassidy), nieces, Bonnie Eyestone (Tom), Cathy Beltran (Phil), nephews, John Ruzzo, Walter Ruzzo (Teresa), Larry Ruzzo, grandchildren, Beth Roskuski (Matt), Sara Neumann (Chris), Amanda Werner, Emily Ruzzo, Elizabeth Ruzzo, Kelly Miller (Greg), Brady McArdle (Brigid), Casey McArdle (Laura), Ashley Calderon (Juan) and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, their son, Thomas, brothers, Bud Halbedel, Neil Halbedel, and sisters, Mary Voelker and Louise Herndon.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
