

KENNETH LEE SPRUNGER, 84, of Fort Wayne, died on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, 10:58 a.m., at St. Joseph Hospital. Born Oct. 25, 1927, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Tobias Sprunger and Celeste (Gerber) Sprunger. He was a 1946 graduate of Central High School and attended Bluffton College (now Bluffton University), Bluffton, Ohio. He was the owner of Kenneth L. Sprunger General Contractor, retiring in 1993. He was a 59 year member of Plymouth Congregational Church; past member of The Y's Mens Club at the Y.M.C.A.; past Board member of Plymouth Congregational Board of Trustees and The Woodhurst Neighborhood Association; volunteer at the Pat Harrison Ombudsman Group at St. Joseph Hospital; and 40 year volunteer at the Mental Health Association of Allen County. He was an avid IU Basketball and Colts fan, and enjoyed his cottage at Pretty Lake. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Ruth Anne (Steiner) Sprunger of Fort Wayne; daughter, Kathy Sprunger of Houston, Texas; three nieces, Sue (John) Baker of Fort Wayne, Bambi Steiner Honer of Castle Valley, Utah. and Heidi Steiner Vetter of Mammoth Lake, Calif.; one nephew, Hans (Carol) Steiner of Visalia, Calif.; brother-in-law, Robert (Sigrid) Steiner of Wilhelmshaven, Germany; and beloved Pomeranian, Princey. He was also preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Orel A. and Ellen L. Sprunger; and nephew Stephen Sprunger. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday at Plymouth Congregational Church, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Ruth Phillips officiating.
