

Kerry “Top” Dean Hall, age 69, passed away at home Friday, January 24, 2025. Born Tuesday, August 9, 1955, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to parents James and Jean (Kortokrax) Hall, Top was a beloved father, papa, brother, and retired Army veteran. Top graduated from Northside High School, and retired from AEP after working for them for many years.
Top proudly served 23 and a half years in the United States Army, where he earned numerous honors and accolades during his time in service. Top received the First Sergeant rank, serving as Crew Chief for UH-1 Huey and Paratrooper for 82nd Airborne. A man of great integrity and resilience, he devoted himself to his country and community, embodying the values of duty, sacrifice, and honor. His military service continued to be a significant part of his identity even after his retirement, participating as a member for the Civil Air Patrol.
Outside of his military career, Top had a passion for collecting firearms, a hobby that brought him much joy and allowed him to connect with others who shared his interests. In his personal life, Top was a loving and supportive father and papa, known for his kind heart, quick wit, and strong sense of humor. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories of the good times they shared with him.
Top is survived by his brother, James (Jody) Hall of Michigan; children Dan (Michelle) Hall and Nicole (Josh) Halsey both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Ariana, Brooklynn, Hadley, Aayla, Brynleigh, and Levi, as well as many dear friends and fellow veterans. He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Jean Hall.
Visitation for Top will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 11-1PM at C.M. Sloan and Sons Funeral Home, 1327 North Wells Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46808. A funeral service will follow at 1PM. He will be laid to rest at Leo Cemetery. The family encourages all who attend to come as you are, in casual attire.
