Klemens was born in Lohne, Germany on August 30th 1940. He came to America when he was 18. He loved playing soccer and was a well-known referee in the Midwest. He was one of the founders of the Pepsi Youth League and Germanfest in Fort Wayne. He was a lifetime member of the Fort Wayne Sport Club and Fort Wayne Maennerchor. He is also an inductee into the Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame.
Klemens was married to Christine on October 8th 1966. They celebrated their 57th anniversary. Klemens is survived by his wife, Christine, his sons Mark (Vicki) and Mike (Marsha), his grandchildren Sean and Danny, Clodagh, Finnbar and Ronan, and his great-grandchild, Keira who live in New Zealand and Michael and David. He is also survived by his brother Adalbert and sister Gertrude who live in Germany.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Fort Wayne Sports Club, 3102 Ardmore Ave., Fort Wayne, IN 46802, on Saturday, April 6th at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Fort Wayne Sports Club. Arrangements entrusted to Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services-Mungovan.
