Kristine Mary Conner, 76, passed away September 4, 2025, at Golden Years Homestead in Fort Wayne, IN. after a long illness. She was born in Fort Wayne on June 11, 1949, the daughter of the late Floyd A. and Jean (Gordon) Skow.
Kristine graduated from South Side High School and Ball State University. In 1971, she married James Benny Conner, to whom she was married 43 years, until his death in 2014. Kris was employed by Fort Wayne Community Schools, from which she retired in 2014, as well as JoAnne’s Fabrics.
She was a lifelong member of Plymouth Congregational Church. Her other memberships included, Trinity Chapter of the Eastern Star, Embroiderers Guild of America, American Association of University Women, Daughter of the Nile, Flax and Fleecers and the Settlers. Her talent with needle and thread was well known and appreciated by many. Kristine loved to travel, including to Africa with her sisters. Her one regret was not being able to visit all 50 states, but she made it to 45.
Kristine is survived by her sons, James Pat Connor and Shaw Conner; sister, Kathryn Diehl of Ponte Verda, FL.; sister-in-law, Betty Retherford of Elwood, Indiana; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Conner of Shippenville, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence Skow; and sister, Natalie Hartigan.
A memorial service will be 11:00 am Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Plymouth Congregational Church, 501 W. Berry Street, Fort Wayne, IN with a gathering one-hour prior. Inurnment will be held at Lindenwood Cemetery.
