He is survived by his father (Kevin Taylor), mother (Lynne Taylor), sister ‘Sis’ (Kate Young) and brother-in-law (David Young). He also left behind his loyal, loving fiancé, Miranda Gidley, his partner of 12 years, and their beloved cats, Esme and Ace.
Kurtis was raised in Fort Wayne and loved this city and community. He graduated from Homestead High School in 2014 and later graduated from Purdue University Fort Wayne with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and a minor in mathematics and a Master of Science degree in applied computer science. He loved his job as a software engineer and all of his colleagues at Sweetwater.
Kurtis loved cooking and entertaining friends and family, the Green Bay Packers, fishing and he frequently could be heard “nerding out” about coding and investing. He was also an avid golfer and a member of the Pine Valley Country Club. Not only did he enjoy golfing at the club, but he also found great joy in going on golf trips with his friends, as well as Miranda. Although he enjoyed the company of lifelong friends, he had the natural gift to build new friendships everywhere he went.
Kurtis will forever be remembered for his patience, sense of humor, optimism, and gentle and encouraging spirit. His quick wit and big smile always lit up a room.
Kurtis looked for the best in every person and situation. He uplifted anyone that was fortunate enough to cross his path and was an example to all of us. He will be greatly missed and forever in the hearts of his loving family and friends. To know Kurtis was to love him.
We ask that you remember Kurtis and Miranda on August 1, 2026, as they would have been celebrating their beautiful wedding day.
Kurtis’ funeral will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM following a 9:00 AM visitation, with additional visitations from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, IN (46825). Committal and burial will be at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN.
A celebration of life luncheon will follow at Pine Valley Country Club, 10900 Pine Mills Road (46845) at 12:30 PM on Friday, April 24.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Kurtis Taylor Memorial Computer Science Scholarship fund, in care of Kate Young. This scholarship will be awarded annually to a student who wants to pursue computer science, in honor of Kurt’s passion for his education and career.
