

Larry Lemar Newmon aka "Smile” was born July 29, 1954 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was the sixth child born to the union of Harvey Newmon and Charlene Gooch. He departed this life on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at the age of 69.
In 1956, his family moved to Chicago, Illinois. After the passing of his father, in 1971 his mother moved the family to Fort Wayne, Indiana to be closer to his brother Fred. His mother, being a God fearing woman that she was, made sure everybody went to church. He accepted God in his life at an early age at The Spiritual Israel Church and It’s Army where he was ordained a Deacon.
Larry attended Northrop High School and later obtained his GED and Associate Degree in Communication.
He would later gain employment with Conrail for several years and then began working with Omni Source.
During his free time he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a special talent in carpentry. He also loved playing chess with his brothers, watching westerns and playing dominos.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Newmon and Charlene Mims; brothers, Fred Prestwood Jr. and James Harvey Newmon; uncle, Andrew "Uncle Sonny" Archie; nephew, Vincent Gant; and niece, Twilah Newmon.
Left to cherish his loving and fond memory, a devoted companion, Nannette Bulter; his daughters, Rashonda (Anthony) Gilbreath and Shatwaya Monique Hogue (Carl); aunts, Patricia Hayes, Robbie Pillion and Rose Collins; brother, Charles Edward Newmon; sisters, Anyta (Tom) Macon, Jacqueline Newmon, Yvonne (Tyree) Harris and Mary (Willie) Calmes; grandchildren, Dominique Hogue, Da’Nyis Bowman and Emariann Bowman; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
