LaVone "Vonnie" Neely

LaVone "Vonnie" Neely, 68, of Huntington, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at Visiting Nurse, Fort Wayne. Mrs. Neely worked as Receiving and Document and Data Control at Continental Seal, retiring in 2015. For years she babysat many children and loved caring for them. She graduated in 1969 from Elmhurst and was a member of Elmhurst Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. She was born in Fort Wayne to the late Wilbur and Leyoda (Myers) Thomas on August 2, 1951. Vonnie is survived by her son, Brian (Kelly) Neely of Huntington; daughter, Trisha Neely of Yoder; sister, Karen (Roger) Richey of Fort Wayne; grandsons, Michael and Mathew Neely; and her beloved dog, Sadie. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Larry J. Neely in 2017; brother, Richard Thomas; sister, Marilyn Norviel; and step-father, John Levell. The funeral service is at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2020 at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home with calling one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home. Private burial. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Allen County SPCA.
