Linda Lou Bernhart, age 82, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025. Linda was born in Auburn, IN to J Frank and Dorothy Cutter. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1961. She went on to Valparaiso University with a Bachelor's of Education in 1967. She then went on to Indiana University and received her Masters in Education in 1971. Linda married Jim Bernhart on June 17, 1967, and they were married for 58 years.
Linda loved to travel and was an accomplished snow skier. Her travel goal was to visit all 50 states, of which she accomplished, all but 2, which were Alaska and Washington. She enjoyed skiing in Michigan, Colorado, Utah, Canada and Europe.
Linda had a long career in the education field, teaching elementary grades in Garrett, Meadowbrook and Leo Elementary in the East Allen County school system for 46 years. She enjoyed special class events, such as taking the students to her house for Thanksgiving Dinner, overnight trips to Old Fort Wayne and museum trips to Chicago.
Linda was a member of the Tri Kappa sorority for 30 years. There her favorite activities were the Three Rivers Festival and Erin's House For Grieving Children.
A funeral service is 11:00 am on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3425 Crescent Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana, with calling one hour prior. The family will also receive friends and family from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Interment at Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
