Lou earned her Registered Nurse Diploma from St. Louis City Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri in 1951 and would wed the love of her life, Arthur O. Brickman, the same year. Her nursing career included working for two Fort Wayne physicians, as well as Director of Nursing at Fort Wayne Red Cross, private duty nursing, and staff nursing for St. Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Lou was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Fort Wayne, serving on the Foundation Board and Board of Deacons and was a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter. She enjoyed counted cross stitch, decorating hollowed out eggs, cooking, entertaining, playing Bridge and volunteering wherever needed. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she loved giving gifts. Lou had an outgoing personality, was a friend to all and was never at a loss for words.
Lou is survived by her husband, Arthur; daughter, Susan “Suzy” (Al) Harding of Landisville, Pennsylvania; grandson, Joel (Libby) Harding; and great-grandchildren, Kylie and Max Harding all of Sterling, Virginia. She was preceded in death by grandson, Brett Harding.
Celebration of Life is 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 28, 2025 at The Townehouse Retirement Community Chapel, 2209 St. Joe Center Road, Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Private Inurnment at First Presbyterian Church, Fort Wayne.
