

At the age of four, she and her mother moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. As a child she attended Pilgrim Baptist Church with her mother Ms. Margaret where they became members.
Lovilee was a 1959 graduate of Central High School. She was previously employed by Indiana Gas Co. before being hired on at the Indiana State Police - Fort Wayne District 22 where she retired from after 37 years of loyal and dedicated service.
On December 31, 1983, she married the love of her life, Joe Johnson. She would spend the next 42 years enjoying life to its' fullest with love and happiness. They enjoyed traveling, jogging, dining and traveling. One of her most cherished trips was traveling with her granddaughter, Kennedy, on her tennis tour.
They would later move their membership to Turner Chapel A.M.E. Church where she remained faithful until 2020 when the pandemic struck, which caused limited attendance.
She passed away at the age of 84, at Lutheran Hospital on Thursday, April 3, 2025.
Lovilee was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend King and Margaret King-Gleason and her daughter, Sandra Craig Ridley.
Left cherish her memory include, her husband of 42 years, Joe Johnson; son, Michael Craig; stepsons, Therron Johnson and Todd Widmeyer, two grandchildren, Evan Craig and Kennedy Craig (Emmanuel) Orekoyo; five step grandchildren,Tyra Widmeyer, Sophie Johnson, Ayabna Johnson, Somiya Johnson and Soma Johnson, six step great grandchildren and a host of other family, in-laws and friends which include her Indiana State Police and Turner Chapel families.
A visitation for Lovilee will be held Friday, April 11, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Turner Chapel AME Church, 836 E Jefferson Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46803, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 noon. Lovilee will be laid to rest in Covington Memorial Gardens.
