Margaret Ann Arnold, 90, went to be with her Savior on November 22, 2025. Born April 25, 1935, in Belfast, North Ireland, to Robert and Lucy McIlveen, Ann moved to the United States and subsequently Fort Wayne, IN 1953.
In 1955, Ann married Donald D. Arnold. Together they raised two children, Kerry and David, who Ann loved proudly. Her siblings Bea and Charlie raised their families alongside her in Fort Wayne, while her eldest sister Kathleen remained in Northern Ireland.
A driven self-started Ann worked at Wolf & Dessauer, before working her way through beauty school and becoming a life-long hairdresser. She kept her own salon in the basement of their home on St. Joe Road.
A member of Brookside Church, Ann served in many ways including singing in the choir, folding bulletins, praying endlessly, teaching Sunday School, and even kept suckers on her to give to all of the children she doted on each Sunday. Despite losing her accent and becoming a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1976. Ann stayed connected to Northern Ireland by making and maintaining friendships with many women in Fort Wayne who also came from the U.K. A generous and warm spirit, Ann lovingly welcomed people into her life, whether she met them in line at the grocery store check-out or they were one of her many life-long friendships.
Ann is survived by her daughter Kerry (Hal) Johnson of Fort Wayne, son David (Renee) Arnold of Greenwood, grandson Adam (Natalie) Johnson, granddaughter Hayley Johnson, great-grandchildren Maximilian, Lola, and Penelope Johnson, brother-in-law Larry (Vicki) Arnold, and her beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Don, her parents, and all of her siblings.
Monday, December 1, 2025, visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. with a service following at 2:00 p.m. at Brookside Church, 6102 Evard Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46835.
En lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to The Gideons International.
