Maria A. Parra

She was born July 1, 1943 in Rio Grande, Mexico and was a daughter of Jose and Ventura Antelma.

In 1969, she and her husband, Juan, left El Paso, Texas in search of a better life and they made Fort Wayne, Indiana their home. Upon their arrival in Fort Wayne, they were very instrumental in supporting the Hispanic community.

Maria was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses West Spanish Congregation. She began employment with St. Joseph Hospital and made transition to Lutheran Hospital and later retired from Dupont Hospital. She liked dancing, cooking and hosting parties. She loved flowers and spending time with family.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Juan F. Parra; children, Maria L. Parra (2), Griselda Palma (3), Angelica (Juan) Mendez (4), Juan F. Parra Jr. (3), Jose Parra (3), Florentino (Liliana) Parra(3), Adam (Heather) Parra and Abraham S. (Tirsa) Parra (3), 21 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Maria will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, March1, 2025 at the Sandpoint Kingdom Hall West Congregation 3630 Sandpoint Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46809. Following the memorial service will be a graveside service from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Riverview Cemetery, 11428 Carroll Rd, Churubusco, IN 46723.
