Marilyn Jean Pierre LaRocque died peacefully in her sleep at Parkview Randallia the morning of January 1st. January 1st was also her 91st Birthday. She was born in 1928 and was the first baby born that year at St. Joe Hospital. She was the daughter of Hilda and Charles Pierre. She grew up in Ft. Wayne and attended St. Jude Elementary School and North Side High School. After graduation she worked for WGL, Wayne Pipe, and Aircraft Gear as a receptionist. She married Edward A LaRocque Jr. in 1952. Together they raised 3 children, Edward (Laura Kroh) LaRocque III, Michelle Marie LaRocque, and Gregory C (Katie Frazier) LaRocque. Her passion and focus were on her family. She faithfully attended St. Charles Catholic Church for many years. She was very active with her children’s education and extracurricular activities and sports. One of her greatest pleasures was babysitting her two grandsons, Grant and Greyson, before they were old enough to attend school. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ruth Peel, her husband Edward, and her daughter Michelle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on January 5, 2019 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd Fort Wayne, IN 46815 with viewing 30 minutes prior. Viewing will also be held on January 4, 2019 from 4 to 7pm at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46815. Preferred memorials can be made to St. Charles for masses in Marilyn’s honor or to Parkview Hospice.
