Marilyn Martell McDougle, 85, passed away on Monday April 2, 2018. She was born in Leipsic, Ohio and raised there by her parents John Morris and Opal (Powell) Morris. Marilyn received her bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University, where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She attained graduate degrees from Indiana University and the University of Saint Francis. She taught music and was then an administrator (Guidance Counselor and Dean of Women) in the East Allen County and Fort Wayne Community School Systems for 36 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Marilyn enjoyed reading, antiques, genealogy, bird watching, her cats, spring, interacting with her neighbors, and her family. She was a kind and very generous person. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Orie Rex McDougle, of nearly 64 years, her son, Christopher J. McDougle, MD and his fiancé Jennifer Mullett, her two wonderful granddaughters, Meghan Marie and Erin Elizabeth McDougle, and her sisters JoAnne Schey and Shirley Linhart. Her sister Constance Plassman preceded her in death. Marilyn also cared deeply about her eight surviving nieces and nephews. Funeral service 1:00pm Friday, April 6, 2018, at the First Christian Church, 120 South Poplar St. Leipsic, Ohio, with visitation two hours prior to the service, Pastor Timothy Eding, officiating. Burial will be in the Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to the SPCA and Matthew 25.
