Marjorie Schlagenhauf, 99, of Fort Wayne, passed away at Lutheran Life Villages of Pine Valley on Saturday, October 8, 2022. She was born June 8, 1923, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Arthur and Luella (Bruns) Gerding. Marjorie retired in 1964 from Lincoln National Life Insurance Company where she worked as head of the payroll department. She enjoyed flower gardens, impressionist art, classical music, and the occasional good glass of wine or cocktail. Marjorie also enjoyed traveling to the Great Smoky Mountains where she would visit with family and admire the great beauty of autumn's changing leaves. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Schlagenhauf; son, Mark Schlagenhauf; brother, James Gerding; sister-in-law, Sue Schlagenhauf; nephews, Dan (Linda) Gerding, Scott (Brenda) Gerding, Tom (Debbie) Spanos, and John (Kris) Schlagenhauf; nieces, Deb Spanos, and Karen (Rico) Talamantes; and several great nieces and nephews. Marjorie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Schlagenhauf, in March of 2007; her sisters-in-law June Gerding and Joyce Spanos; and her brothers-in-law Bob Spanos and Richard Schlagenhauf. A celebration of life will occur on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne at 1:00 pm with visitation two hours prior.
