On Wednesday, March 30, 2022, Martha (Marti) Eagleson, loving wife of nearly 50 years, and mother of five children, passed away at the age of 70. She was born on January 12, 1952, in LaGrange, IN, to Joseph and Dorothy (Doak) Keller. Martha received her bachelors and master's degrees from Indiana University, taught at the Fort Wayne School of Radiography for 37 years, and then at the American Cancer Society for two years, retiring in 2013. On September 30, 1972, she married Ross Eagleson. They raised three sons, Samuel, Joseph, and Theodore, and two daughters, Mackenzie and Casey.
Martha had a passion for education, teaching hundreds of radiography students over several decades. To spend time with her grandchildren, she volunteered as a classroom aide for a kindergarten class at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Martha loved music. She played organ in church as a child, and as an adult she enjoyed playing piano, especially when accompanied by her children. She also played clarinet and, unsurprisingly, the accordion. Martha had an impish side. She was known to prank loved (and unloved) ones and was a stickler for correct grammer and speling. Undoubtedly, she would find errors in this obituary. When not volunteering, playing music, pranking, or proofreading, you could find Martha with her nose in one of the books of her enormous and very complete collection of romantic novels.
Martha was preceded in death by her father, Joseph T. Keller, her mother Dorothy Keller, and her sisters Sarah (David) Weaver and Patsy (Ron) Swafford. She is survived by her husband Ross Eagleson, sons Samuel (Mystee) Eagleson, Joseph (Amber) Eagleson, Theodore (Rachel) Eagleson, daughters Mickey Eagleson and Casey (Denis) Knuth, grandchildren Rylee and Brady Eagleson and Charles and Mackenzie Knuth, and brothers Michael (Pat) Keller, Phil (Maricel) Keller, and Steve Keller.
An open house will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7th, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, immediately followed by a service at 6:00 p.m.
