

She grew up in Seymour, IN, graduating from Shields High School in 1940. In 1943 she married Lt. James F. Beldon, Jr.; he was killed in action in WWII in 1944. She later married Sal Madrid; they moved to Fort Wayne in 1950 where they spent their remaining years. Martha and Sal were both involved with the Wallen Community Baseball League, which Sal founded in 1958. He preceded her in death in 1977.
Martha retired from Fort Wayne Community Schools after 16 years as an aide and bus driver. In 1984 she married Calvin Johnson; he died in 2002.
She is survived by three children, Michael (Jahaira)Madrid of Lafayette, Kathryn (Douglas) Rogers of Auburn, and Patrick (Lisa)Madrid of Fort Wayne; sister Emily Armbruster of Louisville KY, nephew Phillip Armbruster of Louisville KY, niece Susan Armbruster of Scotch Plains, NJ, aunt Wanda Stofer of Kettering, OH. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by granddaughter Ruthie Campbell-Musgrave.
Calling will be on Monday June 16 from 10 am to12 noon at Klaehn Fahl & Melton, 420 W. Wayne St, Fort Wayne, IN. followed by a private family service at Lindenwood Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Visiting Nurse and Hospice, Fort Wayne Rescue Mission, or Community Harvest Food Bank.
