Martie Rae McAlpin

Martie McAlpin went to be with her Heavenly Father Friday, August 19, 2022. She was born January 13, 1968 in Kokomo, IN to the late Melburn & Mary (Clark) McAlpin. Martie lived in Kokomo until 2005 then moved to Fort Wayne, IN to reside with her sister’s family Marlene & Ivan Medina.

She was always full of love for everyone. Her favorite people were her extended family at Colony Heights Church of Christ, her Special Olympians and her bestie friend, Kathie Crabil. She spread joy and kindness to everyone she met. Martie enjoyed vacations and traveled to several different areas with family.

Martie was active in golf, bowling, swimming, and participated with Special Olympics of Allen County. She won several awards in city and state Special Olympic sporting events. Her favorite sport was golf and played regularly at Brookwood par three course while she was able.

Martie was blessed to have her loving family, brother, Mark McAlpin; sisters, Marlene (Ivan) Medina and Marcia (Jim) Merrifield; nephews and nieces, Brian Medina, Travis (“her” Sarah) Medina, Kelly (John) Uncapher, Michelle (Eric) Orstead, Stacy (Marco) Ronco, Chad (Roxann) Merrifield, Megan Merrifield, Sarah Merrifield; great nephews and nieces, Savannah Medina, Lorel (Ty) Getts, Isabel Medina, Hannah Medina, Justin Wogerman, Emma (John) Harrah, Madison Orstead, Ethan Orstead, Sophia Ronco, Elizabeth Ronco, Jasmine (Christopher) Boothe, Mekhi Merrifield, Britton Merrifield, Amelia Merrifield; aunt, Anna Louise Smith; and uncle, Nelson(Millie) Clark. Grandparents and several other aunts & uncles from the Clark & McAlpin families preceded her in death.

She resided to Byron Healthcare in November 2021 due to health issues. Then to hospice August 2022. A special thank you to Parkview-Randallia Hospice staff for their wonderful supportive care given to Martie and her family during her transition from this world.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 with visitation one hour before. Burial ceremony will be next day, Wednesday August 24 at 11:00 am at Covington Memorial Gardens on 8408 Covington Rd Ft. Wayne, IN
