Mary Lou Benjamin, age 86, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025. She was born on September 27, 1938 to the late Elmer W. and Gertrude (Wiese) Koehlinger in Indianapolis, Indiana. Most people know that Mary Lou enjoyed spending time with her feline friends and cheering on NASCAR, what some people may not know is how much she did for her community. Mary Lou spent a large portion of time making hats for the Ave Marie House. She is survived by her children, Dennis A. (Sharon) Benjamin, and Rachel M. (Richard) Heath; grandchildren, Megan, Adrian, and Andrew; step-grandchildren, Trisha, Joshua, Joseph, and Donta; and many great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 1:00 pm, 1327 North Wells Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46808, with visitation beginning two hours prior at 11:00 am. Burial will follow services at Lindenwood Cemetery, 2324 West Main Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46808.
