Maurice Elmer Tarr, 75, of Fort Wayne, passed away in his home, surrounded by loved ones, on December 3, 2023 at 2:10am. Maury was born to the late Elmer and Helen (Osborne) Tarr, on August 23, 1948. Maury graduated from New Haven High School in 1966 and married Bonita M. (Alberding) Tarr of Decatur, Indiana on December 28, 1968. They were happily married for 55 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. He retired from Perfection Bakeries in 2009 after 43 years of employment. Maury was a music lover and loved to dance. He was a Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Cubs fan, (no matter their records). Maury could not resist a competitive card game (or few) of Texas Hold ‘Em, Hand and Foot, Euchre and he was unstoppable at Trivial Pursuit. He loved to fish and parade his family over miles of weedy, wooded, bug infested terrain, laden with coolers, lawn chairs, poles and tackle, looking for the perfect “honey hole”. Maury lived for the moment, making wonderful memories with those he cherished. There were many.
He is survived, by his wife Bonita; his two children, Melissa J. (David) Tarr-Buckler of Marion, IN and Eric M. (Clare) Tarr of Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Patrick (Ashley) Buckler, Solomon and Morrison Tarr; step-grandchildren, Becky (Chris) Davis, Holly Buckler and David (Sara) Buckler Jr.; great-grandson, Samuel Buckler; step-great grandchildren, Alandra King, Adrienne and Charlotte Davis, Ezra, Adelaide and Baby Boy Buckler (due Feb. 2024); brother, Myron Tarr; and sister, Marianne (Tarr) Turner. Maury was also preceded in death by his, brother, Max Tarr; sister, Marjorie (Tarr) Feathers; and step-great grandson, Elijah Davis. He was a loyal, dedicated and wise husband, father and friend and he will be greatly missed. A funeral service to be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak funeral home 6810 Old Trail Rd. Ft Wayne, Indiana 46809 with visitation beginning at 11:00 am.
