Maxine Jane Elick, 91, of Sebring Fla., passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at The Palms of Sebring. Born on April 22, 1926 in Huntington, Ind., she was the oldest daughter of the late Harold and Irene (Hoover) Drabenstot. A 1944 graduate of Huntington High School, Maxine furthered her education at Huntington College and studied elementary education. She married the love of her life, the late Omer Lee Elick on March 15, 1946. A wonderful homemaker and woman of deep faith, she was active in woman’s ministry and her children’s school activities. She was employed with Erie Lackawanna/Erie Western Railroad for over 10 years, retiring in 1978. She enjoyed fishing trips, traveling, biking, shuffleboard, crocheting, playing piano/organ, and table games, especially Skip Bo. She is survived by her children, Annette Sue George of Linden, Mich., Dennis Eugene (Jodi) Elick of Fort Wayne, and Bruce Allen (Anne) Elick of Toledo, Ohio; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Ann (Bob) Ladig of Fort Wayne; and brother-in-law, Jim Smith of Van Wert, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by her son, Roger Lee Elick; brother, Eugene Drabenstot; sister, Geraldine Smith; son-in-law, Mike George; and sister-in-law, Peggy Drabenstot. Funeral Service will be 11:00am on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Jim Conn officiating.
