

Melanie Kay Wilson, age 68, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023. She was born in Corona, California to the late Frank and Barbara (née Griffis) Sams. Melanie would live in Greeneville, Tennessee prior to moving to Fort Wayne when she was fourteen; Melanie would graduate from Elmhurst High School, Class of '73. Over her career, she worked for Lincoln National Life and co-owned 4-M’s Trucking with her husband, but also cherished the years she spent as a homemaker. Melanie was a Godly woman who loved the Lord and her family and set an example for her children and those around her that will lead them all their lives. She enjoyed reading, sun bathing, playing softball, playing cards, vacationing at Myrtle Beach, and listening to music, but loved spending time with her family and friends most of all.
Melanie married the love of her life, Marvin R. Wilson on October 1st, 1983. Prior to his passing in September, he devoted himself to providing her with loving in-home care the last seven years following her diagnosis of Alzheimer’s in 2014; they were married just shy of 40 years.
Melanie is survived by her daughters, Megan (Carl) Bauer, Melissa (Tyler) Egbert, and Carrie Wilson; grandchildren, Maylee Bauer, Moriah Bauer, Maggie Bauer, Matthew Jaggers, Tabitha Jaggers, Alexis Wilson, and Kaylie Houser; brother, Keith Sams; sisters-in-law, Glenna Garrett and Linda (Harold Rhea) Daniels; aunt, Louise Sams; and several nephews, nieces, cousins; and grand puppy, Oliver. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin R. Wilson.
Funeral Service is 11:00 am Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home 4017 Maplecrest Road Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Friends and family will be received from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
